IATSE Takes ‘Biggest Loser’ Fight to NBC’s Burbank Studios

Union unfurls banner and asks passers-by not to watch the reality show until the producers recognize production workers membership in the labor group

Having already picketed the Calabasas set of "The Biggest Loser," the union representing striking production workers for the NBC reality series took the dispute to the network's Burbank headquarters late Wednesday afternoon.

Observing local protest laws that minimize the number of individuals on a picket line, a cadre of four IATSE members unfurled a banner in front of NBC's Alameda Blvd. headquarters.

The group also passed out flyers headlined, "Please support the striking workers of 'The Biggest Loser.'"

"Don't watch 'The Biggest Loser' until the producers stop being real losers" the flyer advised.

Production workers for the show have been on strike since Nov. 7, with the show's producers — which include 25/7 Productions, 3 Ball Productions and Reveille — unwilling to recognize their decision to join the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees.

On Tuesday, the AFL-CIO announced that it would fully support the workers in their strike. Key talent for "The Biggest Loser" has also sided with the striking workers, refusing to cross the picket line.
