Idris Elba will join “The Last Black Man in San Francisco” star Jonathan Majors in the upcoming Netflix film “The Harder They Fall,” a revenge western that has Jay-Z attached as producer.

Directed by Jeymes Samuel, the story follows Majors as outlaw Nat Love, who discovers that the man who killed his parents, played by Elba, has been released from prison. Seeking revenge for a murder that took place over 20 years ago, Nat rounds up his old gang to hunt him down.

Samuel and Jay-Z previously collaborated on the soundtrack for the 2013 adaptation of “The Great Gatsby” and will do so again on this film. Samuel co-wrote the film’s script with Boaz Yakin and is producing with Jay-Z, James Lassiter and Lawrence Bender.

Elba, who last appeared in the “Fast & Furious” spinoff “Hobbs & Shaw,” will next appear in the film adaptation of “Cats” next month and in the 2021 DC film “The Suicide Squad,” which is currently in production. Majors, who appeared this past summer in Joe Talbot and Jimmie Fails’ debut film “The Last Black Man in San Francisco,” will next appear in Spike Lee’s “Da 5 Bloods,” which will be released by Netflix next spring.

Elba is repped by WME and Majors is repped by CAA and Grandview.
