Internet Sensation Kai the Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker Sought in Murder Investigation (Report)

The man once lauded for saving the day with his hatchet-wielding skills is now wanted by the authorities in a murder investigation

Kai the Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker, who enchanted the internet earlier this year with his tale of how he thwarted a man who was attacking a woman by whacking him with a hatchet, is now a wanted man. And this time, he isn't wanted for a "Jimmy Kimmel Live" interview.

Kai — real name: Caleb Lawrence McGillivary — is a suspect in the murder of attorney Joseph Galfy, Jr., in Clark, N.J., New York station WABC-TV reports.

Authorities have a warrant out for McGillivary, who investigators say cut his hair to change his appearance since Galfy's body was found. He was last seen at a New Jersey light-rail station, according to Union County prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow.

Galfy was found dead in his home Monday, of what an autopsy later determined to be blunt force trauma.

According to investigators, the two men met near Times Square, and later went to Galfy's residence.

A reward of up to $5,000 has been offered, according to WABC-TV.
