James Nesbitt and Adam Brown have joined the cast of Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit," it was announced on Monday by New Line, MGM and Warner Bros.

Nesbitt will play Bofur, a disarmingly forthright, funny and occasionally brave dwarf.

Newcomer Brown will play Ori, another member of the Dwarf Company which sets out to reclaim the Lonely Mountain from the infamous dragon, Smaug.

Martin Freeman stars in the two-part epic as Bilbo Baggins, while Richard Armitage, Aidan Turner, Rob Kazinsky, Graham McTavish, John Calen, Stephen Hunter, Mark Hadlow and Peter Hambleton co-star.

Nesbitt is best known for starring in Paul Greengrass' docudrama "Bloody Sunday" and playing the title character on the 2007 BBC series "Jekyll." He's also had roles in Danny Boyle's "Millions" and Woody Allen's "Match Point," as well as the indies "Five Minutes of Heaven" and "Waking Ned Devine."

Jackson is producing "The Hobbit" with Fran Walsh and Carolynne Cunningham, while Phillipa Boyens will co-produce. Jackson's manager, Ken Kamins, will exec produce.

"The Hobbit" movies are due in December 2012 and December 2013. WB is handling domestic distribution, while MGM will distribute internationally.
