“Jane The Virgin” star Gina Rodriguez let the heat on the Emmy Awards red carpet get the best of her — slipping details about a major guest star on the second season of her CW comedy.
Nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series, Rodriguez chatted with E! host Ryan Seacrest about a forthcoming cameo from pop star Britney Spears.
“We’re going to have some great surprises,” Rodriguez said, confirming that Spears will be playing herself, and describing the Las Vegas performer as “very humble.”
Rodriguez took a Best Actress Golden Globe award in January for her performance, delivering an emotional acceptance speech that referenced her father Genaro’s advice to wake up each morning and say, “I can and I will.” Rodriguez will turn his wisdom into the forthcoming book “Tools My Daddy Gave Me.”
“I want to tell teens they’re awesome and powerful and can do anything they want,” Rodriguez said.
