Janet Jackson Drops First New Single in 7 Years (Video)

“No Sleeep” is the first song fans can listen to from her upcoming album

Janet Jackson released her first new single in seven years on Monday.

“No Sleeep,” the first track off of her upcoming eleventh album, is a dreamy R&B track and Jackson’s first new music since 2008’s “Discipline.”

The singer debuted the Rhythm Nation/BMG track on Twitter with a dedication to “My Love.” “Hey guys,” she wrote in a second tweet. “I hope u enjoy this as much as we enjoyed creating it for u.”

“No Sleeep” is a collaboration between Jackson and songwriting and production duo Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, who have been working with Jackson since her 1986 album “Control” and have collaborated with her on nine Billboard Hot 100 number one tracks.

Jackson teased the track and the new album in a video she shared on Twitter last month. “I promised you would hear it from my lips, and now you will,” the singer said in the video. “This year, new music, a new world tour, a new movement.”

The singer also announced her Unbreakable World Tour last week, which will run from August through November in support of her upcoming album.
