Janet Jackson Postpones 2016 World Tour for Surgery

49-year-old singer tells fans Thursday she must undergo unspecified surgery

Janet Jackson has postponed her “Unbreakable” world concert tour in order to undergo surgery, the singer announced on her Facebook page Thursday.

“I need you to know, I learned today, from my doctors that I must have surgery soon,” the Grammy-winning performer wrote. “It breaks my heart to tell you that I am forced to postpone the Unbreakable Tour until the spring.”

The 49-year-old singer did not disclose what sort of surgery she needed.

Jackson, a nominee this year for the Rock Hall of Fame, also promised fans that all the gigs would be rescheduled and that already-purchased tickets would be honored.

“Please pray for me, my family and our entire company during this difficult time,” Jackson said.

The 2016 leg of the tour scheduled supporting her 11th studio album, “Unbreakable,” had been scheduled to begin on January 9 in Denver and go until the end of June.

Last summer, she dropped her first single and music video in seven years, “No Sleeep” — but it did not make much of an impression on the pop charts.
