TheWrap has confirmed that the former “Tonight Show” host has booked a guest starring role on the ABC sitcom “Last Man Standing” starring Tim Allen and Nancy Travis.
In the episode, Vanessa (Travis) wants to buy a car as a gift for her husband Mike (Allen), so she buys one from a car aficionado played by Leno. However, Leno’s character keeps showing up to talk about cars long after the deal is done.
Leno hosted “The Tonight Show” from 1992 to 2014. He is also a noted collector of classic cars, and will debut his new series, “Jay Leno’s Garage,” on Oct. 7 on CNBC.
Leno appeared in a 1995 episode of Allen’s previous sitcom, “Home Improvement.” In the episode, Tim sells his hot rod to a collector. When he goes to get it back at the collector’s garage (which was Leno’s garage in real life), Leno appeared as a mechanic.
“Last Man Standing” will return for its fifth season on Sept. 25 at 8/7c on ABC.
