Jean-Marc Vallée in Talks to Direct Nicole Kidman-Reese Witherspoon HBO Miniseries ‘Big Little Lies’

Limited series would mark reunion for director and Witherspoon after Oscar-nominated “Wild”

Jean-Marc Vallée is in talks to direct one or more episodes of HBO’s limited series “Big Little Lies,” which has Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon starring, TheWrap has learned.

Witherspoon’s production company, Pacific Standard, along with Kidman’s Blossom Films production banner had optioned the film and TV rights to the New York Times best-selling novel from Australian author Liane Moriarty last year.

David E. Kelley is writing and executive producing the series.

“Big Little Lies” follows three mothers of kindergartners, whose apparently perfect lives unravel to the point of murder.

Pacific Standard partner Bruna Papandrea and Blossom partner Per Saari will also produce, as well as Moriarty.

Vallée and Witherspoon most recently worked together on “Wild,” for which Witherspoon was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar. Vallée just directed “Demolition” starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Naomi Watts, out in spring 2016 from Fox Searchlight.
