‘Jersey Shore’ Star the Situation Fist-Pumps and Makes Up With His Dad

Reality star’s father agrees to stop dissing his son on the Internet in exchange for not getting sued anymore

Just in time for the 4th of July weekend, we have another reason to celebrate this great nation of ours: "Jersey Shore" star Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino and his father, Frank Sorrentino, have ended their feud. At least from a legal standpoint.

MPS Entertainment, the company that distributes and markets products under the reality star's trademark, has agreed to drop its lawsuit against the elder Sorrentino, after he made a series of disparaging remarks about his famous son over the web. A businessman working in cahoots with papa Sorrentino had to pay a small sum as part of the settlement.

Richard Wolfe, attorney for MPS, called the settlement "a complete victory" for MPS.

He told TheWrap that the case was never about money, but protecting the younger Sorrentino's brand.

MPS had filed a complaint for trademark infringement, unfair competition and false description after Papa Sorrentino launched TheConfrontationSite.com, on which he dissed his son, claiming he was an ingrate who turned his back on his family once he hit the big time. But in court papers filed in U.S. District Court in Florida on Thursday, that MPS has agreed to drop the suit, in exchange for Frank not using the Situation's name, or likeness, in vain — or for profit in any way — again. (TheConfrontationSite.com has since been pulled.)

Court papers posted at TMZ also reveal that Frank had launched the site in cahoots with Boca Raton, Fla.-area businessman Robert Fletcher, operating under the name Strategic Book Publishing and Rights Agency.

According to TMZ, Fletcher paid $5,000 under the settlement.

Now, perhaps the legal system can sort out the feud between the Sitch and his "Jersey Shore" castmate Ronnie Ortiz-Magro.
