Jimmy Kimmel Explains Manny Pacquiao Fight Cameo: ‘I Asked If I Could Be His Justin Bieber’ (Video)

“Manny Pacquiao doesn’t have a sexy teen idol in his camp, so I offered myself” Kimmel says

Jimmy Kimmel took some time out of his show Tuesday to talk about his experience being part of Manny Pacquiao’s entourage during Saturday’s fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

“Manny was on our show a couple of weeks ago and I asked if I could be his Justin Bieber,” Kimmel said. “Justin Bieber, if you don’t know, walks into the ring with Floyd Mayweather whenever he fights, looking tough and just kind of hanging with him. But Manny Pacquiao doesn’t have a sexy teen idol in his camp, so I offered myself.”

Pacquiao took Kimmel up on the offer. Kimmel walked to the ring with the Filipino boxer wearing some gold chains and a fedora. Kimmel said he even got to spend some time with Pacquiao in his dressing room before the fight.

“At one point, [Pacquiao’s trainer] went somewhere and the other trainer went somewhere. It was just me and Manny sitting there,” Kimmel said. “”He’s warming up for the biggest fight of his life … And I’m standing there wearing gold chains and this stupid hat.”

Kimmel also reminded his audience that Pacquiao is a congressman in his native Phillipines. “It must be weird for the people back home to see one of their congressmen fighting on TV,” Kimmel said. “I wish our congressmen would do that.”
