Joe Scarborough Accuses Melania Trump of ‘Faux Outrage’ Over Hearing Remark About Son, Barron

“I’m still waiting for her to ask her husband to apologize for face-shaming my wife, lying about my wife,” “Morning Joe” co-host says

On Thursday’s “Morning Joe,” co-host Joe Scarborough criticized Melania Trump for her reaction to an impeachment hearing witness invoking the name of her 13-year-old son, calling it “faux outrage.”

During Wednesday’s hearing before the House Judiciary Committee, constitutional scholar Pamela Karlan said, “Contrary to what President Trump has said, Article 2 does not give him the power to do anything he wants. The Constitution says there can be no titles of nobility, so while the president can name his son Barron, he can’t make him a baron.”

The first lady then tweeted Karlan “should be ashamed” for using a child to conduct “very angry and obviously biased public pandering.”

Scarborough pointed out that Melania, whom he called a “pawn” in all of this, is never outraged when her own husband says insulting things about people.

“I’m still waiting for her to ask her husband to apologize for face-shaming my wife, lying about my wife, saying she that was bleeding badly from a facelift,” Scarborough said, referencing things the president has said about “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski. “She never did anything. I think she actually attacked Mika.”

MSNBC’s Willie Geist mentioned her “Be Best” campaign, but added, “unless it’s Donald Trump, her husband, attacking people.”

He noted Karlan’s play on words was just a “lame pun,” but said it is probably best to just avoid saying the names of minors.
