Joe Scarborough Can’t Decide Whether Trump Has ‘Dementia’ or Is Just a ‘Liar’

“The man just can’t tell the truth. It’s not in him,” ‘Morning Joe’ host says

Joe Scarborough isn’t as sure as he used to be that Donald Trump has dementia. On Friday morning, the “Morning Joe” host concluded that the president might just be a liar.

“Either he has dementia and doesn’t remember,” Scarborough said. “Or he’s a liar and in this case, it looks like he’s just lying. The man just can’t tell the truth. It’s not in him.”

The latest round of dementia vs. liar speculation was ignited by a clip of Trump from an interview with “Good Morning Britain” host Piers Morgan. The full interview is scheduled to air this weekend.

In the exchange, Trump quasi-apologized for retweeting anti-Muslim videos from Britain First, a far-right political organization. The move earned him a rebuke from British Prime Minister Theresa May at the time. Trump also told Morgan that he didn’t know who they were.

“If you’re telling me they’re horrible racist people, I would certainly apologize if you would like me to do that,” Trump told Morgan. “I know nothing about them. I don’t want to be involved with these people, you’re telling me about these people. I know nothing about these people.”

As Scarborough pointed out, the line was very similar to one Trump offered CNN’s Jake Tapper in 2016 when asked about white supremacist David Duke.

“I don’t anything about David Duke. Okay. I don’t know anything about what you’re even talking about with white supremacy or white supremacists. I don’t know,” Trump said. “I know nothing about white supremacists.”

“Crying ignorance after the fact,” noted “Morning Joe” co-host Willie Geist.
