Jon Stewart and Bill O’Reilly Talk $4 Government Shrimp (Video)

O'Reilly makes fun of himself — and GSA excess

The revelation that a government conference in Las Vegas cost taxpayers more than $820,000 — including for $4 per individual shrimp — spurred Fox News host Bill O'Reilly to vow that he would never, ever pay $4 per shrimp.

Which got Jon Stewart to wondering: Ever?

Stewart welcomed O'Reilly to "The Daily Show" Thursday to challenge him on whether it might, on some occasions, be justifiable to pay $4 per shrimp. He asked his guest: What if the proceeds went to a company that sheltered old American flags damaged in fires?

"I'm not eatin' the shrimp, I'm not buyin' a shrimp," barked O'Reilly, who said he would instead make a donation "to the flag people." He was making fun of his own outraged persona, while still making a point about that shrimp.

The expensive meeting of the General Services Administration, which helps manage federal buildings, led to the resignation of GSA Administrator Martha Johnson and the firing of several employees. The White House has said President Obama was outraged by the excess, which also included hiring clowns and mind readers as entertainment.
