Jon Stewart Stages a Newt Gingrich Intervention (Video)

Stewart uses last show of the year to tell Republicans: "Don't do this"

Jon Stewart says Republicans got hooked by "chasing the Reagan," but that supporting Newt Gingrich is like going "to the basement of a broken-down abandoned drug den, sucking [expletive] just to score some five-dollar rock."

Stewart used his last "Daily Show" of the year to appeal to Republican voters not to make Gingrich their presidential nomineee, saying simply, "Don't do this."

Continuing the drug metaphor, he staged an intervention in which Republican leaders listed their problems with Gingrich. Stewart's rock-bottom moment? Glenn Beck saying that Gingrich was the only Republican candidate he couldn't support.
