Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus Will Have Tongues Wagging at MTV VMAs: Wrap Trends (Video)

TheWrap’s Jordan Burchette explores whether the pop stars will be the subject of headlines or punchlines at this weekend’s VMAs

When the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards are handed out at the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday, the winner announcements are likely to be the least interesting part of the night.

Miley Cyrus will serve as host of the show, making her first VMAs appearance since her raunchy performance with Robin Thicke in 2013, while Kanye West will be honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award after famously stealing the microphone and spotlight from Taylor Swift in 2009.

But all eyes will be on Justin Bieber, who will perform his new single “What Do You Mean?” live for the first time on Sunday. The performance will be the biggest step yet in the long-running campaign to rehabilitate the pop star’s public image.

So will Bieber succeed in winning back the hearts and minds of teen girls everywhere? Or will he be rejected out-of-hand and forced back into the hole from which he came? Watch the latest Wrap Trends to find out!
