Kate Hudson Joins Mark Wahlberg, Kurt Russell in ‘Deepwater Horizon’

Peter Berg is directing the movie, which co-stars Gina Rodriguez and Dylan O’Brien

Kate Hudson has been cast as Mark Wahlberg‘s wife in Peter Berg’s “Deepwater Horizon,” it was announced Thursday by Summit Entertainment and Participant Media.

Based on the true events that occurred on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico on April 20, 2010, the story chronicles the courage of those who worked on the Deepwater Horizon and the extreme moments of bravery and survival in the face of what would become one of the biggest man-made disasters in world history.

Hudson will play Felicia Williams, the wife of Deepwater Horizon oil rig engineer Mike Williams (Wahlberg). The duo will be joined by Gina Rodriguez, Dylan O’Brien, Kurt Russell and John Malkovich.

This marks the first time that Kurt Russell and Kate Hudson have starred in a feature film together.

Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson are producing with Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian and David Womark. “Deepwater Horizon” is currently scheduled for release in September 2016.

Hudson is represented by CAA, managed by Rick Nicita and Jason Weinberg, and her attorney is Marcy Morris.
