Katey Sagal will return to comedy in the CBS comedy pilot based on the Australian show “Upper Middle Bogan,” TheWrap has learned.

The show follows a wife and mother who learns she was adopted and that her birth parents are a flamboyant but loving family of drag-racers.

John Carroll Lynch will play Wayne Wheeler, the patriarch of Team Wheeler, a man whose life revolves around his profession and his extended family. Sagal will play his wife, Julie,  who stepped in as the lead driver of Team Wheeler after Wayne lost an eye. Swoosie Kurtz will also appear in the pilot.

Sagal famously played biker queen Gemma Teller on husband Kurt Sutter‘s FX series “Sons of Anarchy,” as well as appearing in Sutter’s short lived “The Bastard Executioner.”

However, she is no stranger to comedy, as she came to national prominence for her role as the bee-hive haired Peg Bundy on the Fox ’90s comedy series “Married With Children.”

She is repped by WME and B&B Management.

Dan O’Shannon, Robyn Butler and Wayne Hope are writing and executive producing the pilot. Todd Holland will also executive produce. CBS Television Studio is producing in association with ABC Studios and Dark Toy Entertainment.
