A reporter for one of Southern California’s Spanish-language TV stations was charged with multiple felonies Tuesday, after allegedly throwing a flowerpot at his wife’s head, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

The TV reporter, Carlos Zapata of MundoFox Channel 22, now faces two counts of injuring a spouse, stemming from two separate alleged incidents. Prosecutors claim the most recent one, with the flowerpot, caused his wife great bodily harm.

The flowerpot attack allegedly occurred on Dec. 3 in Sherman Oaks, which resulted in his arrest. But when law enforcement questioned Zapata’s wife, she reportedly revealed the journalist had also been violent with her on Nov. 4.

Zapata is scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. arraignment at the Los Angeles County Superior Court on Dec. 24. If convicted, he faces a possible maximum sentence of 10 years in state prison.

The Los Angeles Police Department, Van Nuys Division is continuing to investigate the case.

MundoFox Channel 22 has not yet responded to TheWrap‘s request for comment.
