LAPD Bomb Squad Investigates Suspicious Package Near Hollywood Christmas Parade Route

The Los Angeles Police Department’s bomb squad was brought in to investigate a suspicious item near the Hollywood Christmas Parade route on Sunday afternoon.

The unspecified item was discovered near the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Orange Drive near the famed TCL Chinese Theatre shortly after 3 p.m. PT, according to KTLA.

Police cleared the area after a someone was seen putting a mystery object in a mailbox, an eye witness at the scene told TheWrap.

The location, which is also close to the Dolby Theatre — the home of the Oscars — is the starting spot for the parade, which was set to kick off at 5 p.m. PT.

Magicians Penn & Teller are the grand marshals for the annual festive parade, which also features co-hosts Laura McKenzie, “CHiPs” star Erik Estrada, the cast of “Jane the Virgin,” Oscar del la Hoya and “American Idol” alums.

The LAPD did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.
