Larry Wilmore Rips Fox News Over Baltimore Riots ‘Thugs Go Thugging’ Reference (Video)

Late-night host also takes aim at Anderson Cooper for discomfort saying the words “weave store” — “It’s not the N-Word,” the “Nightly Show” host says

Larry Wilmore isn’t holding back when it comes to the media’s coverage of the Baltimore riots. In fact, the “Nightly Show” host is letting the fists fly over the silliness he sees in the cable news networks’ coverage.

The Comedy Central personality started his assault on Tuesday in a good-natured way, counting CNN’s Anderson Cooper among those reporters “out of their element” in Charm City. Wilmore mocked Cooper’s struggle over whether to call a looted and burned-up shop a “weave store” or a “hair store.”

“Don’t worry, Anderson Cooper — you can say ‘weave store,’” Wilmore suggests. “It’s not the N-word, for Christ’s sake.”

Cooper’s colleague Don Lemon didn’t do much better with his time on-air — and drew jokes from Wilmore as well.

“He just needs to stop trying,” Wilmore advises. “Even the governor of Maryland and the mayor of Baltimore walked away when Don tried to suggest they weren’t handling the riots well.”

Of course, no one drew the 11:30 p.m. comic’s ire quite like Fox News.

“Let me give you guys some advice: When shit like this goes down, all of you should just go home and show reruns of ‘Killing Jesus,’” Wilmore said to the conservative news channel, “because you’re never going to be able to relate to this.”

Shepard Smith then got destroyed by the Comedy Central host for his descriptive phrase, “thugs go thugging.” It was all Wilmore could take.

“Fu*k you, motherfu*kers, man,” he summed up, weary from hearing the gang name “Black Guerilla Family” used so frequently and gleefully on the right-leaning cable news channel.
