Lauren Glotzer to Head Corporate Development at Sony Pictures

Glotzer will report to CFO David Hendler and help oversee the studio’s investments

Lauren Glotzer has been promoted to head corporate development at Sony Pictures Entertainment, the studio said on Wednesday.

Glotzer will report to David Hendler, senior executive vice president and chief financial officer at the studio.

In her new role, Glotzer will oversee studio investments and analyses, mergers and acquisitions, new business development and strategic planning, the studio said.

In her five years with  Sony, Glotzer has been involved in a series of ventures, such as Sony's increased stake in GSN, its home-entertainment joint venture with Universal in Australia, and the launch of the Hot Ticket, a theatrical distribution label dedicated to alternative content.

“Lauren’s strategic guidance has been invaluable in keeping the studio nimble and innovative, streamlining our operations, expanding our consumer offerings, and investing in key businesses. Her promotion is well deserved,” Hendler said in a statement.

Prior to joining  Sony, Glotzer worked at Virgin Media, where she helped push the cable company’s purchase of Virgin Mobile UK and licensing of the Virgin brand name.
