‘The Leftovers’ Aren’t as Lucky as the Raptured in New Teaser for Damon Lindelof’s HBO Drama (Video)

New series from the “Lost” executive producer premieres in June

HBO released a new teaser trailer for Damon Lindelof‘s Rapture drama “The Leftovers,” and it’s surprisingly optimistic — for those that mysteriously disappeared from the planet, at least.

For everyone else still stuck on Earth, well, things are about to get weird.

The new series, based on a book of the same name from author Tom Perrotta (“Little Children”), centers on the population of small town after 140 million people around the world go missing in the blink of an eye. Perrotta also co-wrote the pilot and executive produces with Lindelof,

“They are alive and well somewhere. The smallest sprouts show there is really no death. All goes onward and outward, and nothing collapses,” a man narrates over peaceful images. “And to depart is different from what anyone supposed. And luckier.”

That’s where life takes a dramatic turn for survivors, including Justin TherouxLiv TylerChristopher Eccleston, Amy Brenneman, Carrie Coon, Ann Dowd, and Chris Zylka.

“The Leftovers” premieres on June 15  after the season finale of “Game of Thrones.”
