Lena Dunham has joined the cast of “American Horror Story” for Season 7, creator Ryan Murphy announced on Twitter Wednesday.

“Thrilled that my talented friend Lena Dunham is joining the AMERICAN HORROR STORY family,” he wrote. “Always wanted to work together, and now we r!”

Although Murphy didn’t give any more information on the scope of the “Girls” star’s role, a representative for Dunhan told TheWrap that she only has a small role in Episode 1 and is “not joining the cast technically.”

As usual, much of the upcoming season of American Horror Story” continues to be shrouded in secrecy. Murphy previously revealed that the season will somehow involve the 2016 presidential election, and the title is set to be announced at Comic-Con on Thursday.

Dunham joins a few other newcomers on the FX horror anthology this season, including the previously announced Leslie Grossman, Colton Haynes, Billie Lourd and Billy Eichner. Returning players Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters will also appear.

Earlier on Wednesday, Dunham posted an image on Instagram depicting herself as a “skeleton mermaid.” There’s no word yet as to whether this is a tease of her “AHS” character, or just an example of her weird imagination …

Rock this humpday like a skeleton mermaid! ??’? ????
