Magician David Blaine Faces NYPD Investigation Over 2 Sexual Assault Accusations (Report)

He has not been charged with a crime, The Daily Beast reports

David Blaine is under investigation by police in New York after two women accused the magician of sexual assault, according to a senior NYPD official quoted by The Daily Beast

According to the report, the senior official said that detectives with the NYPD’s Special Victims Unit took statements from two women. One of the accusations could fall out of the statute of limitations — one of the women said she was sexually assaulted by Blaine inside of his New York City apartment in 1998.

“The NYPD takes sexual assault and rape cases extremely seriously and urges anyone who has been a victim to file a report so we can perform a comprehensive investigation, and offer support and services to survivors,” Sgt. Jessica McRorie, an NYPD spokesperson, said in a statement.

Reps for Blaine did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment, but Blaine told the Daily Beast that he had not been approached by authorities, but otherwise had no comment.

In 2017, Blaine was accused by former model Natasha Prince of raping her at his London mansion in 2004. Blaine denied the accusation and following an investigation, Scotland Yard detectives decided not to take any further action.

Blaine’s last TV special, “Beyond Magic,” aired in 2016 on ABC. He is scheduled to begin a tour of the U.K. and Ireland in June.
