Off The Dock, Lakeshore Entertainment’s digital studio, will collaborate with Maker Studios on an original digital mockumentary called “Internet Famous,” the companies announced Thursday.
Directed by Michael Gallagher and written by Gallagher and comedian Steve Greene, the film follows six Internet personalities — played by Shane Dawson, Greene, Amanda Cerny, Christian DelGrosso, Wendy McColm, and Richard Ryan — as they travel across the country to compete in a talent competition for their very own TV show.
It is produced by Off The Dock, Maker Studios, and Gallagher’s Cinemand. Maker Studios and Off The Dock will also co-distribute the film across digital platforms.
“We are excited to work with Maker, Michael and Steve on this unique project,” said Off The Dock’s Marc Reid. “Combining Lakeshore’s 20 years of experience with a new generation of creators is our mission at Off The Dock, and ‘Internet Famous’ embodies this strategy perfectly.”
“Internet Famous” marks Off The Dock’s second film and first in-house feature, previously co-distributing “Man Up” starring Kevin Wu (known online as KevJumba) and Justin Chon.
Executive Mark Korshak brought “Internet Famous” to Off The Dock. The digital studio has several projects slated for 2016 including original features and television content for the direct-to-consumer market. Maker will also continue to produce original, feature length digital films for multi-platform distribution.
In addition to YouTube, Vimeo and other social platforms, Maker’s existing digital content relationships include Dish’s Sling TV, Spotify, Verizon’s go90, Comcast’s Watchable, Canal+ and Globe Telecom, among others, as well as linear television collaborators such as Music Choice and Disney Channel.
Maker recently distributed its first digital film “Summer Forever” starring YouTube star and musician Megan Nicole.
Dawson, Gallagher, and Greene are represented by United Talent Agency; Gallagher and Greene are also managed by Management 360 in addition to being part of the Maker Studios network.
