Mariah Carey kicked off her Elusive Chanteuse World Tour in Tokyo. But things didn’t exactly go as planned.

Concertgoers ripped the music legend when she struggled to get through some of her hit songs including the Grammy-winning single “Vision of Love” on Saturday. Several people posted videos from the show on Instagram and the comments were scathing.

In one video, Carey appears to have trouble hitting some of her signature high notes and her voice even cracks. She eventually stops singing the song and begins to rap the lyrics. Fans blasted Carey’s performance and wrote such comments under the Instagram clip as “She is duuuun.” Another person added, “She needs Jesus.” A third chimed in with “No no no!!!!!! Why Mariah why????”

The concert took place at the Makuhari Messe venue in front of a sold-out crowd, according to Carey’s official website.

The pop diva’s tour follows the May release of her album, “Me. I Am Mariah … The Elusive Chanteuse.” As TheWrap previously reported, the CD sold just 57,000 copies in its first week.

Despite its weak sales, “The Elusive Chanteuse” received generally favorable reviews. The project had been in production for years and the release date was pushed back several times.
