Mark Hamill Pranks Unknowing Fans Just in Time for ‘Star Wars’ Day (Video)

Fans were led to believe they were reenacting iconic scenes from the franchise, but didn’t know Luke Skywalker would make an appearance

Mark Hamill surprised unknowing “Star Wars” fans who were made to believe they were performing reenactments of some of the most iconic scenes from the franchise.

The video was shot for an Omaze campaign in partnership with Lucasfilm and “Star Wars: Force for Change” celebrating the 40th anniversary of the “Star Wars” saga. The clip was posted on May 3, one day before “Star Wars” Day.

“But what they don’t know is that I’ll be their surprise co-star,” Hamill said in the clip. “In other words, ‘It’s a trap’!”

Hamill mostly crept up on fans while they were reading the scenes. But in some cases, he was an extra and just hid his face until the scene was over, at which point fans were shocked to see they were reading lines with the real Luke Skywalker actor.

In one scene, Hamill acted out the iconic “I am your father” Darth Vader scene from “The Empire Strikes Back.” In another, he donned a hoodie to recreate his final scene from “The Force Awakens” with a female fan.

“I had more lines with you than I do in the movie,” he said.

Until May 12, fans can visit to donate funds to help The Starlight Foundation and UNICEF at which point they will be entered to win a flight to Los Angeles to meet the actor for a private lunch and attend a pre-screening of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” They will also be entered to win visits to the set of the new Han Solo standalone film, spend a night at Skywalker Ranch, and join the cast at “The Last Jedi” premiere.
