Marvel’s ‘Legion’ Pilot Ordered by FX

Lauren Shuler Donner, Bryan Singer, Simon Kinberg to produce comic book adaptation

FX has ordered to pilot “Legion,” based on the Marvel comic book character of the same name, TheWrap has learned.

The pilot introduces the story of David Haller, who has struggled with mental illness since he was a teenager. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real.

In the comics, Haller is a mutant and the son of Professor Charles Xavier, leader of the X-Men.

“Fargo’s” Noah Hawley will write the pilot and serve as an Executive Producer along with
Lauren Shuler Donner, Bryan Singer, Simon Kinberg, Jeph Loeb, Jim Chory and John Cameron.

“Legion is just the sort of ambitious story that Noah excels at,” FX’s Co-President of Original Programming Nick Grad, said in a statement. “His adaption of ‘Fargo’ for television was one of the most acclaimed television events in recent memory. It’s also an honor to partner with Marvel on ‘Legion’ and to enlist such an accomplished team of Executive producers to create this pilot.”
