Matt Stone and Trey Parker on ‘Book of Mormon’ Movie: ‘It’s Pretty Far Away’ (Video)

But "Book of Mormon" co-creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker are busy with a new season of "South Park"

Sorry, "Book of Mormon" fans. Sounds like a movie version of the smash Tony Award-winning Broadway musical won't be coming to a movie theater near you any time soon.

Co-creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker have talked about a film version of their hit Broadway musical, but on Wednesday at the opening of the touring production at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood, the pair said that for now, no film.

"We thought about it when we were first doing it, but we're enjoying this the way it is," Parker said. "It's pretty far away."

But fans of Stone and Parker can still get their fix of their unique humor: The pair have just started on a new season of "South Park."

The touring production of "Book of Mormon," the musical about two mismatched Mormon missionaries who are partnered in Africa,  plays in L.A. through Nov. 25 then heads to San Francisco.
