Newly named Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer has hired fellow Google alumna Anne Espiritu.
AllThingsD's Kara Swisher reports that Espiritu, who worked closely with Mayer at the tech titan, will work with the corporate communications staff at Yahoo.
Mayer, who was hired last month to head the struggling web giant, worked closely with Espiritu at various media events and on consumer products.
Neither Yahoo nor Google immediately responded to requests from TheWrap requesting confirmation.
But the new recruit bucks earlier speculation by the Business Insider that Mayer would first poach Henrique De Castro, Google's president of global media, mobile and platforms, to work on Yahoo's sales and development.
