Mel Gibson Is Mark Wahlberg’s Womanizing Dad in ‘Daddy’s Home 2’ Trailer (Video)

Sequel to 2015 comedy also starring Will Ferrell opens this November

The dads are home for Christmas! In the first trailer for “Daddy’s Home 2,” Dusty (Mark Wahlberg) and Brad (Will Ferrell) get a visit from their fathers — of course madness ensues.

Mel Gibson plays Dusty’s dad, who in the trailer is both portrayed as a womanizer and the coolest dad around (eek…). It turns out, Dusty and his dad don’t really have that great of a relationship. On the other hand, Brad’s dad (played by John Lithgow) has unlimited love for his son (the two even kiss on the lips). Both of the father-son duos have to spend Christmas together in the same house, leading to petty conflicts.

“Daddy’s Home 2” also stars Linda Cardellini, John Cena, Alessandra Ambrosio, Scarlett Estevez and Owen Vaccaro. The sequel is directed by Sean Anders, who also cowrote the script with Brian Burns and John Morris.

The film is a follow-up to 2015’s “Daddy’s Home,” which earned $242.8 million worldwide. Despite its success, critics didn’t embrace it — on Rotten Tomatoes, it holds a score of 31 percent.

In the first “Daddy’s Home,” Brad’s life gets turned upside down when his wife’s ex-husband and the father of her children comes to visit and tries to one-up him in everything. It was also directed by Anders.
