Released by Amazon Studios in beta mode back on Friday, Amazon Storyteller is a new tool that allows filmmakers and writers to convert (RTF) scripts to storyboards for free online. It starts by scanning scripts and then identifies scenes, locations, and characters. Storyteller then “casts” them via its library of characters, props, and backgrounds. But everything can be tweaked to the writer’s liking: locations can be changed or customized with their own uploaded images; characters’ facial expressions and positions are variable; and props, captions, and dialogue can all be added.
Completed work can be shared with the Amazon Studios community for feedback and for an extra 45-day option extension with Amazon Studios’ creative development team. However, completed work can’t currently be exported, only shared (if public).
