CollegeHumor is set to release its first full-length feature film this week. And foregoing the traditional practice of launching the film in theatres and marketing it via traditional media methods, the comedy site plans to distribute it directly via on-demand digital platforms like iTunes and Amazon, and will market the film using its social media channels.

Silver Lake Decides It Doesn’t Want Hulu (For Now)
Other Hulu suitors include DirecTV, The Chernin Group (in partnership with AT&T), Guggenheim Digital, and Time Warner Cable (which as far as we know is only interested in purchasing a stake in the company). DirecTV is considered to be the frontrunner, which might not be bad for Hulu if it hopes to play a serious role in original online programming. Yahoo also had an interested in buying Hulu, but has since dropped out of the bidding war.

“This isn’t ‘Oz,’” the protagonist is told at the outset of “Orange is the New Black,” and mercifully, there isn’t an ass tattooed or eye gouged out in the previewed episodes. Indeed, Netflix’s new women-in-prison dramedy — picked up for a second season prior to this week’s premiere — bears a much closer resemblance to creator Jenji Kohan’s previous show, “Weeds,” with a more interesting assortment of characters and ornate narrative structure. Although messy and at times uneven, the one-hour series feels like a bull’s-eye with the sort of premium-cable space the distributor is eager to carve out with its original efforts.

A 23 year-old Swedish gamer named Felix Kjellberg, whose PewDiePie channel is devoted to “sharing gaming moments on YouTube with my bros”, is currently the most-viewed channel on the service. According to online video site Tubefilter’s latest Top 50 chart, PewDiePie generated just under 50m views in the week between 27 June and 3 July, putting it ahead of Turkish music videos channel Muyap (45.6m) and another games channel, Sky Does Minecraft (35.5m).
