Blip Studios and Rooster Teeth, the production studio behind the award-winning “Red vs. Blue” web series, are teaming up again for the second season of video-gaming competition series “The Gauntlet.”
The show will select four teams of gamers — one from Rooster Teeth, one from gaming site Achievement Hunter, another comprised of “gaming celebrities,” and a fourth made up of Rooster Teeth fans — to compete in weekly challenges for the grand prize of $10,000, which will be donated to a charity of their choice. The second season, which features a new set, also brings back Rooster Teeth’s Burnie Burns as host, joined by a new co-host, Joel Heyman of “Red vs. Blue.”
The first two episodes, which will document the audition process for the reality series, will be available on September 1 and 8 on Blip and RoosterTeeth.com. Then beginning October 20, Blip and Rooster Teeth will roll out new episodes on a weekly basis to track the actual competition.
The second season is sponsored by Verizon.
Blip, meanwhile, still isn’t saying anything about its reported acquisition by Maker Studios, though we hear that the announcement is coming shortly.
