Vimeo has updated its iOS app to enable offline viewing. The feature is part of a larger iOS 7-centric update for the Vimeo app, which will now offer an offline mode that allows users to play videos saved into “Watch Later” and “My Videos.”
In a statement issued by Vimeo, the YouTube competitor claims that it is the first video-sharing company to release an app that allows offline playback (though YouTube won’t be far behind).
According to the official Vimeo blog, the application is “baked” directly into iOS 7, which will allow users to upload video directly from the Camera and Photos apps.
Additional updated features include device-to-device sharing through AirDrop, streaming thumbnails that play as users browse, and a sleek new design.
The updated app is now available in the App Store. However, if you already have the app, it will update as you switch over to iOS 7.
