YouTube web series “All About the McKenzies” has been picked up by an upcoming UK-based local television station called London Live. The station has ordered six 30-minute long episodes from series creator Samuell Benta.
The series, which also stars Benta, follows a multi-generational family living under one roof. There are currently six episodes of “All About the McKenzies” on YouTube with each episode running for roughly five minutes.
Despite having a relatively small subscriber base — 1,676 subscribers — “All About the McKenzies” has fared well on YouTube, garnering anywhere between 100,000 to half a million views per episode.
London Live, a new venture from the London Evening Standard, will launch next year on Freeview channel 8 with a new crop of talent including Benta and “All About the McKenzies.” It is unknown whether London Live will continue to poach from video platforms like YouTube. However, with the rising popularity of UK YouTube creators, London Live seems to have an almost limitless pool to pull from.
