GroupM Entertainment and SpinMedia have joined forces to develop fashion-forward web series “Stylist On Set.”
The new series will be hosted by celebrity stylist Johnny Wujek, who has a fashion resume on par with Will Ferrell as Mugatu in “Zoolander.” Diving deep into the classic helping-others-help-themselves TV formula, Wujek will travel from town to town dishing out fashion advice to participants who have some kind of style-related emergency.
“Stylist On Set” was developed in conjunction with SpinMedia, owners of a large swath of media outlets including Vibe, Stereogum, and of course Spin. Wujek also helped create the show, which will launch next year across Spin’s collection of sites. In tandem, Wujek will be launching a site with SpinMedia that is slated to debut this month. Both SpinMedia and GroupM will share executive producer titles.
This isn’t GroupM’s first venture into original web content. Back in September, the company invested in two original web shows from Alloy Digital’s Newfront slate.
According to GroupM Entertainment and SpinMedia, the development from both companies allows for “early-stage” investment from advertisers. With SpinMedia and GroupM’s sterling track records, it’s hard to see how fashion brands wouldn’t be scrambling for a chance to be featured on “Stylist On Set,” especially as the series aims to target the much-coveted Millennial demographic.
