Univision and Bedrocket have officially formed Flama, a new digital destination that will create and distribute original online video content for 15- to 30-year-old fans of Latin culture.
The network, which was first announced during Univision’s Newfront presentation in the spring, will launch a website in early 2014. Univision and Bedrocket are co-investors and creative partners for the network.
Content produced for Flama will primarily be English-based — though clearly influenced by elements of Latin culture — spanning original and curated comedy, music, lifestyle, and sports programming. Per the announcement, Flama will feature both established and emerging stars in scripted and docu-series formats. The content partners say that the network will assist web video creators in developing and producing shows for “an audience seeking Latin-infused video content.”
Flama content will be available on its own website, as well as across other Univision platforms (including, I imagine, UVideos), and Univision’s digital distribution partners, including VEVO.
Prior to the website’s 2014 debut, Univision and Bedrocket will launch a channel on YouTube to preview and promote Flama.
