Multi-channel network Machinima is on the hunt for a new chief executive, according to current CEO Allen DeBevoise*.
Speaking with AllThingsD, DeBevoise said that finding a new CEO was all his idea. He stated that the MCN needed more professional management from someone who could take it to a global level. “I’m looking for a partner that can run the business day to day and get it to the next level,” DeBevoise explained.
If a new CEO is found, DeBevoise will continue to serve as a chairman at Machinima.
Timing, of course, is everything, and the CEO’s hunt for a replacement comes at a pivotal moment for the MCN. Earlier this week, it was confirmed that major Machinima executives Philip and Aaron DeBevoise were leaving the company at the end of the year. About his brother and nephews departure, DeBevoise explained: “It was planned for some time with them as they want to start their own companies given all the activity in the online video arena. I’m excited for them.”
According to AllThingsD, Machinima has been searching for a new CEO for at least a month. However, Machinima’s investors and board members have stated that the hunt was mostly the CEO’s decision. Geoff Yang, a Machinima investor stated that DeBevoise is not being replaced because of poor performance. In fact, Yang bluntly explained that if there was any kind of problem, “Allen would be gone.”
