Music video website and YouTube’s biggest music provider VEVO received a complete facelift today. The music site rolled out a “ground-up” rebuild of both its browser site and mobile web apps.
The update has streamlined both VEVO on the web and its mobile web apps in a way that puts a premium on VEVO TV, the site’s TV-style music video channel. VEVO TV now sports a prominent position on the site, located directly at the top of the navigation bar.
VEVO has also launched two additional TV channels, VEVO TV Nashville and VEVO TV Flow. Nashville, as the name would indicate, airs exclusively country music while Flow focuses on R&B/rap music videos. All three channels will offer music videos, live concerts, and VEVO original programming. The music provider has also launched a VEVO TV web channel in Germany.
VEVO also claims to have revamped its search engine to allow for a faster, more intuitive experience. Searching on VEVO now blacks out your screen while giving an extensive list of related content per your requests.
The sites and mobile web apps’ video feeds have been revamped as well, offering a homepage that updates multiple times a day. Previously, VEVO would only update its video feed once a day. However, it seem that the music provider is looking to adopt a more digital magazine format in releasing new content almost hourly.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a site and app revamp without ads being rebuilt as well. Currently, the site sports a massive video banner for “Thor: The Dark World.” According to VEVO’s announcement, “Today you see a major revision of display ads, trailer ads, and pre-rolls.”
Although VEVO is only revamping its mobile web apps and site today, the company has made it clear that it will be rebuilding its tablet, mobile, and TV apps within the next few weeks.
