If you’re an A, B, C, or even D-Lister, or aspiring multi-hyphenate trying to make it big in Hollywood, you go one place — Los Angeles. Now as Hollywood has started to accept, and even celebrate, this “YouTube thing,” the City of Angels has become a haven for some of the biggest YouTube Stars, if not in large part also because nearly every MCN is HQ’d there. YouTubers (hot and not) flock to Los Angeles in search of their next big break or to be closer to the “real action.” With that in mind, it’s easy to forget that the Big Apple also houses some pretty smokin’ talent as well! And thankfully, we’re here to highlight Six of New York City/the Tri-State areas finest YouTube Creators.
6. The Gregory Brothers (Maker Studios) youtube.com/thegregorybrothers
Following their breakout hit “Bed Intruder Song” The Gregory Brothers — Andrew, Evan, Michael and Sarah (Evan’s wife) — have consistently proven their musical talents. In fact the “Country & Soul” group has been releasing their own EP’s since 2009. Native East Coasters, the group lives in Brooklyn, NY.
5. DominicFear (Awesomeness TV) youtube.com/dominicfear
This “classically trained” NYU-under-grad has mastered short films, animations, and sketch comedy, and even nabbed the top award at the NYU National Film Festival. He’s certainly a talent to watch and until graduation, an NYC local indefinitely.
4. ArielleIsHamming (Big Frame) youtube.com/arielleishamming
LGBT is a poppin’ category on YouTube and one name you should know is Arielle Scarcella, AKA, ArielleIsHamming. She vlogs about life and relationships and gives advice on how to navigate both of those categories. With over 18M video views this New Yorker is obviously on to something.
3. DomMazzetti (Fullscreen) youtube.com/dommazzetti
This list would be remiss if we left out a Jersey Shore type, which is why we must highlight, Dom Mazzetti. Essentially, Mr. Mazzetti muscled up and wearing a bro-tank or “College” t-shirt takes on subjects for debate while pounding beers and chest. Can you smell the man musk through the screen? And in true “Jersey Shore” form, Mazzetti captured a rather massive audience. Ride the D-Train. Manhattan’ers beware, Mazzetti might also be on it.
2. Make Up By Camila (Maker Studios) youtube.com/MakeUpByCamila2
Ok, ok, so she’s not exactly in the NYC metro area but Boston is close enough and who doesn’t love a little Boston lovin’? Make Up By Camilla isn’t only awesome because she’s an East Coaster but also because her makeup and fashion tutorials are among the best on YouTube and Instagram.
1. DudeNeedaEaseUp (Big Frame) youtube.com/dudeneedaeaseonup
John Salomone, AKA DudeNeedaEaseUp, is Brooklyn style to the very definition and is charming mostly because he’s so identifiable. The male counter-part to LGBT-advice-giver Arielle Scarcella, Salomone vlogs less about relationships and love and more about dude-centric day to day topics (part of why he’s so relatable) like Video Games, Comics and his trick of the trade is animation! We’re loving this Brooklynite.
