Back when the deal for Waywire was announced, Magnify CEO Steven Rosenbaum told VideoInk that he hoped to create the definitive “channel guide” for web video, allowing both premium publishers and content creators to create curated channels around certain themes, or “wires.” With this site relaunch, you can begin to see what Rosenbaum and Magnify hope to achieve. The site’s homepage offers wires for videos that are trending on the web as well as “pro wires” from top publishers like ABC News, Bloomberg, BuzzFeed, Crackle, and SourceFed.
Digging a little deeper into the “pro wires,” users can access playlists from publishers across 10 broad categories including: News & Politics, Food, Travel, Sports, Humor, and Music.
Also during that conversation, Rosenbaum said that Magnify and Waywire would actively seek to grow relationships with online video creators in an effort to help them continue building their content brands. A quick search through the site’s channel guide shows that it offers access to wires from the Annoying Orange, Chester See, and SourceFed, among other creators.
At the time of the acquisition, Magnify had also decided to temporarily remove the ability for users to create and share their own wires. Back then Rosenbaum assured that the function would return, which it has with today’s re-launch.
