Amsterdam-based multi-channel network Zoomin.TV claims it has become the largest European YouTube network with more than 6,000 channels flying under its flag. Based on analytics culled from SocialBlade, Zoomin.TV says it’s also the 25th-most subscribed MCN in the world.
According to Zoomin.TV, the network produces an average of 400 videos a day in 16 languages. Looking to tap into a global audience, Zoomin.TV distributes content across over 2,000 sites in addition to YouTube, Daily Motion, and Blinkx.
Jaap van den Berg, a key figure in developing the MCN, spoke about Zoomin.TV’s overall goal to reach younger audiences via its gaming channel zoomingames, saying: “MCNs on YouTube have been experiencing a period of rapid growth. At the same time premium content owners and content distribution companies are finding it harder and harder to reach a younger target audience, which has been shifting towards online television.” He adds, “These two developments are driving the high number of acquisitions and the upward pressure on market valuations of MCNs in recent months.”
Berg specifically cites AwesomenessTV in terms of recent acquisitions, stating that the MCN was purchased by DreamWorks “on a conditional valuation of 150 million USD.”
It should be noted, however, that Zoomin.TV has cited becoming Europe’s largest MCN based on the number of members it represents. In terms of video views received in the last 30 days, Zoomin.TV’s 200,000,000 plus views places it at number 25 among the top 50 most-viewed MCNs.
Berg spoke to the MCN’s desire to create additional content, saying that Zoomin.TV is looking to establish itself among the “European vanguard” of online video. “For this reason Zoomin.TV will be exploring opportunities in partnering with one or more global players in long form premium content production as well as partnering with other MCNs who have developed specific USPs,” he said.
