Yahoo is seriously interested in offering high-quality, TV-like programming in 2014. But while you wait for that, here’s an upgraded version of the Yahoo Screen iOS app, which now allows users to organize their viewing experiences based on what they’re most interested in.
The iOS app is introducing a new “channel experience” that gives users the option of customizing which channels they want to subscribe to. Once selected, users can also organize which channels they want to see first. Yahoo Screen channels include those from existing third-party content providers like Broadway Video (for “SNL”) and GQ, as well as newcomers like BuzzFeed Video, CollegeHumor, and The New York Times.
Yahoo has bought several video tech companies in the past year, many of which were pure talent acquisitions. I wonder how many, if any, went into this upgraded Yahoo Screen product.
