Netflix’s first foray into original programming, the gangster-comedy series “Lilyhammer,” has been picked up for a third season, which will debut sometime in 2014.
The eight-episode second season of “Lilyhammer” went live in all Netflix territories in December, continuing the adventures of Frank Tagliano, played by Steven Van Zandt (“The Sopranos”), a former mob fixer who is hiding from his former bosses in Norway.
“Lilyhammer” was developed by Rubicon TV AS, and produced by Rubicon TV AS and co-produced by Netflix and Norwegian broadcaster NRK in association with Red Arrow International. The show is distributed by Red Arrow. Additional producers include Trond Berg Nilsen and Agnet Thuland, with Lasse Hallberg and Van Zandt sharing executive producer credit.
In Norway, the show airs on NRK1. The third season will also span eight hour-long episodes.
