Amazon Studios continues adding to its original pilot lineup.
According to TheWrap, the original content division of Amazon has ordered a one-hour pilot from Anthony Cipriano, one of the creators of A&E’s “Bates Motel.” Per the report, “Sun Valley” is a crime-drama set in the San Fernando Valley neighborhood of Los Angeles. The show, if picked up, would follow the story of a “violent street thug” and his overprotective mother on their way to the top of the criminal underworld.
“Sun Valley” would be executive produced by Cipriano alongside Bernie Goldman and Steve Barnett (“300”).
This news follows a report earlier this week from Deadline, which said that Amazon Studios is close to ordering a pilot for a new “Barbarella” series from Gaumont International Television (“Hannibal,” “Hemlock Grove”). That show, which will be executive produced by Nicholas Winding Refn (“Drive”) and Martha De Laurentiis, will be based on the 1960s sci-fi movie starring Jane Fonda.
These shows would join an upcoming pilot slate from Amazon Studios that includes “The After” from “The X-Files” creator Chris Carter.
