Last week, Fox Sports invited a bunch of YouTube creators to YouTube Space LA in order to compete in a video contest, which would award one winner $1 million in promotional support and a development deal with the sports programmer (we will have more on this later). In total, 12 channels were invited from across the United States as part of the Fox Sports Digital VideoFest. Over the course of three days, these creators developed and shot a pilot for a new sports show that would live on Fox Sports’ digital platforms.
Now, Fox Sports and YouTube have announced the winners — creators and brothers AVByte, who re-formatted Fox’s famous “This Week in Sports” series by turning it into a one-minute musical. With the win, the creators now have a development deal with the sports cabler, which includes $1 million worth of promotional and content development support for Fox Sports’ media channels.
A little information on the AVByte duo. The brothers, Antonius and Vijay Nazareth, based out of the great city of New York, have been on YouTube since October 2011. Their “thing” is creating original musical numbers. They did this with their submission to the VideoFest, creating a news recap that was entirely done through song.
The full list of participants is included below, as well as a playlist of the each contestant’s entry for the contest. If you prefer to watch it on YouTube, the videos are available on Fox Sports’ channel.
