AwesomenessTV has tapped Blip CEO Kelly Day to be chief digital officer, a newly created position at the company.
She will oversee AwesomenessTV’s multi-channel network, as well as be responsible for increasing distribution of AwesomenessTV and its partner content across digital platforms and into international markets.
“Kelly has a strong track record for building multi-platform brands and businesses, which makes her invaluable as we expand AwesomenessTV into new areas,” said Brian Robbins, co-founder and CEO of AwesomesnessTV, in a statement. “We have an ambitious growth strategy planned for 2014, and Kelly will play a key role on our growing senior management team.”
She will report to AwesomenessTV COO Brett Bouttier, and will move out to LA to join the team by the summer.
Kelly Day joined Blip in 2012 and was charged with developing new content and partnerships for the online video platform, which for a long time played in YouTube’s shadow for independent creators. This all changed in August of 2013, when Blip decided to sell to Maker Studios. For some time following the acquisition, Day had stayed on in an advisory role.
Prior to Blip, Day led the Digital Media and Commerce units at Discovery Communications, spanning the company’s 16 websites in the US, e-commerce operations, licensing, and home entertainment.
