Jukin Media, a company that finds, acquires, and finds distribution for trending user-generated clips on the web, is adding to its executive roster.
Jukin has hired Lee Essner to be its new president and chief operating officer. Essner, who has been working with Jukin in an advisory capacity since 2013, will now oversee operations, strategy, product, and legal affairs for the company.
“Lee has been a tremendous asset as an advisor,” said Jukin Media founder and CEO Jonathan Skogmo in a statement. “Taking on this expanded role is a natural way to further leverage his background and experience in helping to build and grow digital and tech companies.”
Jeff Levin, the former head of talent at teen-centric MCN AwesomenessTV, is joining the company as its new director of talent and strategic partnerships. In this role, Levin will manage Jukin Media’s roster of up-and-coming creators, which includes Vine stars such as Logan Paul and BatDad. Levin will be responsible for helping the talent find distribution across multiple online video platforms, as well as fostering various brand and media partnerships.
At AwesomenessTV, Levin helped surface emerging YouTubers across the company’s network of 60,000 channels. Prior to that, he was an agent-in-training at ICM, working with international talent/literary agent David Unger.
In November, Jukin Media launched its MCN business, with the aforementioned Vine stars Logan Paul and BatDad as launch partners. In January 2014 alone, Jukin generated more than 300 million views across its network, which also includes the 4.5 million-subbed YouTube channel Fail Army.
